2009/11/27 : SUPERGEN Theme Day

A SUPERGEN Theme Day was held on 27th November 2009 in Macdonald Manchester Hotel, Manchester with fourteen consortia attended.

SUPERGEN Wind Consortium presented posters for the whole project, Theme W, Theme X, Theme Y, and Theme Z. In addition a leaflet was presented showing achievements accomplished in Phase 1.

2009/10/16 : SUPERGEN Wind Renewal Panel Meeting

The SUPERGEN Wind renewal panel meeting will be on Friday, 16th Oct 2009. Preparation work are being done by the Consortium.

2009/10/02 : SUPERGEN Wind 3rd Training Seminar

A one-day training workshop for researchers in the Superggen Wind project was held on Friday, the 2nd October 2009 in School of Engineering, Durham University, following the PhD Seminar on Wind Energy in Europe. The training topics, which are being collected, can include both general introduction to wind energy and specific technical topics being researched in the project.

To download presentations presented in the workshop, please go to Presentations.

2009/09/30 : 5th PhD Seminar on Wind Energy in Europe

The 5th PhD Seminar of the European Academy of Wind Energy will take place from 30th September-1st October, 2009 at Collingwood College and the School of Engineering, Durham University.

2009/07/30 : Theme Y & Z workshop

A workshop about research conducted in Theme Y and Theme Z has been held in Romax on 30th July 2009. A presentation was given by Professor Bill Leithead from University of Strathclyde.  17 people attended the workshop including industry partners and researchers from research institues.  Download the presentation.

2009/05/18 : Supergen Wind 2 Proposal submitted

Following the successful delivery of the Supergen Wind 1, the Consortium has submitted their renewal proposal for Supergen Wind 2 in May 2009, which is proposed to start from 2010, lasting 48 months. The Supergen Wind 2 work programme will consider four key areas: Reliability, Resource estimation, Scaling up of turbine size, and Lifetime costs, which will be covered by three themes over the four years. The three proposed themes are:

  • Theme 1: The Farm
  • Theme 2: The Turbine
  • Theme 3: The Wind Farm as a Power Station

2009/03/16 : EWEC 2009

A group of Supergen Wind researchers attended the EWEC 2009 held in Marseille 16-19 March 2009. Nine papers were presented (including 5 oral presentations), representing results from across all four Supergen Wind research themes, and representatives of the Consortium chaired one session.

2008/01/24 : Supergen Wind - Reliability & Condition Monitoring of Wind Turbines

Early conclusions from the Supergen Wind Consortium's work on Reliability & Condition Monitoring of Wind Turbines is published today in presentation format on the consortium web-site. This document includes work done on historic wind turbine reliability statistics, which has proved surprisingly informative about component reliability and status compared with other industries. The document also presents an introduction to the consortium's R&D on condition monitoring of wind turbines. Any potential commercial collaborator wishing for a more detailed presentation and discussion of the findings should contact the consortium.

2006/10/11 : Official launch of Supergen Wind

A reception and official launch of the Supergen Wind Consortium was held on Wednesday 11 October 2006 at the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) 28th Annual Conference in Glasgow. A selection of interested wind energy professionals attended the reception and talked with the project co-ordinators and members of the growing research teams.

Further news will be added as it becomes available.
